Back to Florida

Well it is starting to cool down in Indiana, time to start thinking about returning to Florida. Don is looking to playing more golf and getting back to his painting classes. Luetta is ready for her sewing classes. We miss our friends that we have in Florida and are looking forward to seeing them again.

28 Years

Today is another milestone - we have been married 28 years. It does not seem possible that 28 years have passed. When you are happy time goes by so fast! The two of us are so happy that 28 years seem like 14!

Back home again in Indiana

Well we are back in Indiana. The weather is cold and rainy - already wish we were back in Florida!! Florida has become our first home, the place we would rather be. Now we are faced with the decision to keep or sell our house in Indiana. If it were not for the "MOVE" it would be an easy decision.

What a week for Golf!

On Monday Gene and Don played golf at King's Gate. On the 9th hole Gene said he was going to smash a long one, he did. They thought his ball ended up a few yards short of the green (the distance from the tee to the green was 305 yards). When they got the the green there was no ball, Don thought it may have rolled across the green, nope. The flag had been left laying on the green, when Don picked it up and tried to put it in th hole it would not go, there was Gene's ball, a 305 yard home-in-one!!!

On Friday Gene and Don played at Pinemoore. Don broke 100 (96), did not loose a ball! Golf in Florida is great.

The snowbirds are flying

Starting on April 1st the snowbirds started “flying” north. The entire side of our condo have all gone north except us. When we walk Maggie the parking lot seems empty. Glad we were not on the I-75 at the first on the month, seems like half of Florida heads north at the time.
Time is winding down for our stay in Florida, we will also be heading north in about a month. Mixed feelings, we love our little condo in Florida, but also look forward to getting back to the hills of southern Indiana.

Spring Break

Katie flew down to see us "all by herself". The first two days were a little cold but then it warmed up so she could swim. The main things she did while here was; swim, sleep and eat! She would sleep till noon, this was OK after all she was on break from all that hard school work up north! We both enjoyed the time she was here and hopes she comes back next year.

March 4, 2008

Well last week was a busy week in Florida; Robin flew in on Wednesday and left Friday afternoon. We were very happy to have her here even for a short time. She brought some of that cold Indiana weather with her; we had to wear long pants and a jacket for the first day and a half. The temperature did improve on Thursday so we could go the Englewood beach. On Friday it was warm enough to layout at the pool. We hope that she comes back next year and will stay longer.

Our friend Gene has now been retired for a week. He has been busy on the “Honey DO” list. Gene even recruited Don to help with shelves in his garage. They say that if you want to stay healthy, you should stay busy after you retire. Marci is making sure Gene will stay healthy! We are starting a pool, put in $5.00 and pick the date when Gene goes back to work. The person closest to the date wins the pot!

Don has been busy with his art classes, golf and doing our taxes. He is also working on David’s taxes, complicated this year because he moved to Kentucky. Don has be doing research for the Wednesday night bible study. We are studying the Book of Daniel. Don seems to have caught a bug this week, but is on the mend.

Luetta has two quilts she made that she is now sewing on the binding; this will take about 5+ hours per quilt. She is also cutting material for two more Project Linus quilts. Of course there are the sewing classes, always another sewing class. After so many classes she has to be the smartest sewer in Florida. Friday she made an outstanding dinner for Gene, Marci, Ron and Oleta.

We both stay so busy that is seems a week is only 3 days long, time just flies!

A couple of days we had some rain, it has been so dry here we really need all the rain we can get. The weather in Florida is different than Indiana, it can rain for two hours and an hour later you never know it. We sure enjoy the warm days here. Every day we look at the temperatures back in Indiana and know that we are truly blessed to be able to spend the winters here.

Maggie makes news

Maggie was in the local newspaper, the picture was take while she was at the groomers. Looks like she is posing for the camera!

Cabin Row

When our retired pastor Roy and his wife Fern visited us in January, they showed Don a picture of the place where they lived when they were married. This is Don's drawing of this place. It was the married quarters (Cabin Row) at the Bible Collage that Roy attended. Consisted of two rooms, the bedroom was in the kitchen. We plan to frame the picture and give it to Roy and Fern when we return to Indiana.

Wed Jan 30, 2008

Last night we attend the small group Bible study. What a great group of friends. Ate too much, need to take a Pepsit Complete! It is a big help learning about God's will for us when you have a group of Christian friends sharing their thoughts and understanding. We wish we could have the group at our house but they all would not fit! May be when if is warmer we can use the Condo's meeting room.

Today started off great, it has warmed up in Florida, back to shorts and a golf shirt! Luetta is off to rehab for her shoulder, she is doing much better. She should be back to normal within a month. I can hear it all the way from Indiana, she was not "Normal" to begin with!!

Our friend Gene has two more days until he retires. We can remember how is was when we retired, do we have enough money? will we always have enough? and the hardest question of all is - how much is enought?

A log of our travles through this life

Don and Luetta established this blog so our family back home can see what we have been doing while we are in Florida.
